When music gets color: SONIC CANVAS | SELECTION in Koblenz

On November 7, 2026, the DIEHLs in Koblenz-Ehrenbreitstein will transform into an atmospheric experience space for art and music fans. SONIC CANVAS | SELECTION by Nikka Wood connects around 20 selected paintings with photographs by Thomas Rabsch and makes audible emotions visually tangible.

Rock ’n’ Roll on the canvas

Nikka Wood translates songs, concert moments, and musical energy into colors, shapes, and structures. Her conceptual mixed-media art works with acrylics, ink, spray, as well as oil and pastel crayons. Sometimes driving rhythms and powerful contrasts emerge, other times calm, melancholic image spaces open up.

Each work has its own soundtrack

The special exhibition concept makes music an active part of the art experience. Besides the paintings, there are QR codes that lead directly to the songs that inspired Nikka Wood while painting. With their own smartphone and headphones, visitors create a personal audiovisual connection: The image no longer appears still but gains rhythm, dynamics, and emotional depth.

Art enjoyment at DIEHLs

DIEHLs on the Rhine promenade offers a relaxed environment for the exhibition away from traditional gallery spaces. Visitors discover the works without time pressure and combine their stroll with coffee, tea, or a drink. The lighting mood and open atmosphere support the multisensory character of the exhibition.

A curated continuation of SONIC CANVAS

After the first exhibition SONIC CANVAS in 2025, Nikka Wood continues her concept with a deliberately concentrated selection. The paintings are complemented by photographs by Thomas Rabsch, which underline the musical character of the presentation. Thus, orchestration, image composition, and stage feeling intersect without the art losing its openness to personal interpretations.

Conclusion: Art on, everyday life off

SONIC CANVAS | SELECTION invites you to take a closer look and listen at the same time. Those who want to experience contemporary art, music, photography, and an intense live atmosphere away from ordinary exhibition formats will find an extraordinary concert experience without a concert stage at DIEHLs. Pack your own smartphone and headphones and discover the connection between painting and music live.
