War Memories, Comrades and Kaiserschitzel at the State Main Archive Koblenz

An evening full of history, memory, and Koblenz archival atmosphere

On December 1, 2026, the State Main Archive Koblenz will open its doors for a lecture evening that dives deep into the history of associations in the German Empire. Under the title War Memories, Comrades and Kaiserschitzel, Sebastian Schneichel takes the audience on a comprehensive and illustrative journey into the world of the Koblenz Veterans Association Iron Cross.

History, camaraderie, and society in the long 19th century

The lecture focuses on the question of what role veteran associations played in memory culture, camaraderie, and social cohesion. Based on historical original sources, a vivid picture emerges of a time when association life was much more than mere leisure activities: it shaped identity, exchange, and public perception.

Particularly the combination of archival work, historical contextualization, and careful event planning makes this lecture evening especially appealing for history enthusiasts, Koblenz fans, and friends of science communication. The audience atmosphere promises to be calm, focused, and at the same time stimulating.

A place that makes history tangible

The State Main Archive Koblenz provides the suitable setting for this. Anyone interested in historical research, regional memory culture, and the interplay of sources and interpretation will experience an event experience here with professional depth and authentic ambiance. The evening connects information with exchange and creates space for conversations in a sociable setting.

Conclusion

This lecture evening is aimed at all who want to not only read history but experience it in direct exchange. Those who want to discover the social life of the German Empire from a new perspective should mark this date in Koblenz and experience the evening live at the archive.
