Encounter Jacques Offenbach Virtually: An Unusual Introduction to The Tales of Hoffmann
On Sunday, November 8, 2026, the Theater Koblenz invites you to "Offenbach Revealed" in the theater tent. The approximately 20-minute VR introduction begins at 5:30 PM and immerses the audience directly into the world of Jacques Offenbach's fantastic opera "The Tales of Hoffmann".
A Time Travel with the Spirit of the Composer
With VR glasses, the audience follows Jacques Offenbach on an unusual journey through the creation story of his famous work. The composer appears as a virtual host and takes visitors to Olympia, Giulietta, and Antonia – three central figures who later meet on stage in the opera.
Virtual Reality Meets Music Theater
The production combines digital imagery with classical dramaturgy. Between orchestration, stage performance, and modern media technology, an immersive introduction to the work is created, making musical motifs and character constellations sensually experienceable. The VR experience sharpens the focus on the themes of memory, art, and madness that characterize Offenbach's opera.
Directly Before the Start of the Performance
After approximately 20 minutes, the audience returns to the tent foyer in time. "Offenbach Revealed" is only bookable in conjunction with a visit to a performance of "The Tales of Hoffmann". Due to limited seating capacity, Theater Koblenz recommends early reservation.
Conclusion: Opera Preparation as a Digital Concert Experience
"Offenbach Revealed" opens an atmospheric access to Jacques Offenbach's opera and combines live theater, music history, and virtual reality. Those who want to not only hear "The Tales of Hoffmann" but also intensely experience its character world will discover an extraordinary entry into the theater evening here.
