Offenbach Revealed: A Virtual Journey into the World of Hoffmann's Tales
On Saturday, November 14, 2026, the Theater Koblenz invites you to an extraordinary VR work introduction in the theater tent. In this approximately 20-minute experience, the audience encounters Jacques Offenbach as a ghostly host and immerses themselves in the creation of his fantastic opera Hoffmann's Tales.
With Jacques Offenbach through the Composition Workshop
In the foyer of the theater tent, music history becomes a virtual stage scene. Jacques Offenbach posthumously guides the audience through his composition workshop and narrates important figures, places, and events surrounding Hoffmann's Tales. The VR production connects historical context, music theater, and digital stage performance into an unusual concert experience.
Between Opera Magic, Madness, and Fantasy
Hoffmann's Tales unfolds a world between romantic sound, night-time hallucination, and grand theatrical fantasy. The work introduction makes central motifs of the opera immediately tangible and creates a sensual access to Offenbach's orchestration, his musical humor, and the dramatic tension of the work.
VR Experience as a Prelude to the Opera Evening
The virtual journey returns the audience in time for the subsequent performance. Thus, Offenbach Revealed becomes a special prelude for an evening focused on music theater, stage performance, and fantastic opera. The event is recommended for ages 16 and older and can only be booked in combination with a visit to Hoffmann's Tales.
Conclusion: Experience Opera History with a Digital Perspective
Visitors can expect a compact, atmospheric work introduction with VR technology, musical context, and an unusual host from opera history. Those who wish to discover Hoffmann's Tales in Koblenz not just by listening but from a new perspective will find Offenbach Revealed an impressive entry into the theater evening.
